Game Design
Move and combine three types of photons around the Chinese Checkers-like grid to obtain the goal formation using a limited amount of energy. This is a refreshingly new idea in the world of monotonous puzzle games. (MG)8.5
Challenge
The five level sets that are included with the game are well varied in challenge and complexity. Once again, it seems like there's something for everyone... or at least everyone who knows how to combine different-coloured photons to make other photons. This game is best suited for programmers who have experimented with makecol(). (MG)9
Ease of use
The menus are simple and easy to understand, much like the controls. The level editor isn't foolproof, but it's fairly easy to use once you figure it out. (MG)8.5
Graphics
The graphics, while not spectacular, are fitting for the genre and easy to understand. Once you start combining photons with crystals however, the colours start to become hard to decipher, but then again, that's what the 'peek' option is for. (MG)6.5
Sound
The music is slow-paced and thought-inducing, which somehow always reminds me of Stonehenge. You'll get what I mean once you start playing the game. The sound effects are limited but they fit with the theme. (MG)7
Satisfaction
Drops of Light is a nice breath of fresh air from other overclichéd puzzle games, and the level editor is a nice touch. (MG)8.5
Comments
(MG)This would be a really great puzzle franchise, maybe even bigger than Tetris...
