[edit] Email notification?
Is it possible to get email notification of changes to the NewAPI pages? Specifically I'd like to get diffs. --Peter Wang 03:25, July 3, 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, see the "watch" link up top, it adds pages to your watch list, and you can then go to the "User Profile" tab on the Special:Preferences page, and check the "E-mail me when a page I'm watching is changed", and maybe the "minor edits" one as well.
- Also, please make sure you don't accidentally remove large chunks of pages you're editing.

Thanks, sorry about that. -- Peter Wang 10:59, July 3, 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. :) -- Tomasu 13:37, July 3, 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Extend Talk: pages into a thread like setup?
see: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DiscussionThreading
I think its a good idea, I'd like to hear from everyone first though. -- Tomasu 16:14, May 16, 2007 (MDT)
Vote no. It's high overhead and uses threaded discussion, which is pretty annoying. Instead, use this pretty template :)
[edit] Reorganization?
As it seems like everyone is in favour of renaming Category:Articles, and splitting it into other sections, How bout we also think about an "Interview" section (as suggested by Clayton on #allegro):
<Clayton> I think we should have an interview section....
for the popular games that still have active A.cc members
so we can see what guys like sirocco were thinking when the came out with something...
just an idea
What do you all think?

[edit] Pixelate
I'm not sure that the old Pixelate articles should be left organized like a magazine. I think it gives the false impression that the wiki uses some sort of release system. I think all the good articles should just be lifted and categorized appropriately. Once that's done, the pixelate references could just be removed. - ML
- I agree. Just to keep track what has been wikified already, I'd somewhere keep the article links arranged like the original issues - but no need for the Pixelate block on the front page of course. --Elias 16:29, February 10, 2007 (MST)
- Hehe.. I see we've thought alike. Here is my suggestion: We make all articles accessible through the Articles link on the Wiki? With that I mean that we include links to the articles from the Pixelate issues as well. This will make it easier for people coming to the site and looking through the articles. I could do it, but I won't start until I know that it's what we want so that no one "corrects" my changes. So. I'm saying the same thing. I also offer to do this. Is it just a matter of adding links to each article in the Articles section or should there be something more advanced (like sub-categories to Articles)? Should I get to work? - Kent Larsson
- See the talk page here regarding naming categories. I think the Article category is too ambiguous to even be useful as a tag. Category_talk:Article - ML
So what's decided? I personally agree with ML and Elias, only reason for keeping Pixelate that way is nostalgy, and we already have it in such a form on BAFs server. Ron Ophir 10:29, April 27, 2007 (MDT)
[edit] Main page organization
I've reorganized the front page a bit to make it more obvious how to access content. I think the front page should try to stick to major categories. (For example, some of the links under miscellaneous probably shouldn't even be on the front page.) - ML
[edit] Wiki planning?
Hopefully the new wiki and the recent changes will enable more users to be more collaborative regarding allegro. Now that the upgrade is out of the way, which is good btw (new address also \o/), is there anything specifically needing completion or attention? -- Juvinious 09:28, February 9, 2007 (MST)
[edit] Upgrade
Upgrade potentially done, and the Allegro.cc auth seems to work, so I've enabled it. -- Thomas Fjellstrom 09:15, February 7, 2007 (MST)
- One thing to note, whatever allegro.cc returns as your "display" name for the forums, thats what the wiki will now use, see how mine magically changed to "Thomas Fjellstrom"? If you want to save me some work, send me your a.cc display name before you login, and I can change your current user_name to the new one. One other note, you can set your mediawiki "nickname" to your old one, and it'll use that for your "nick" in your signatures... like mine ->> -- Tomasu 10:09, February 7, 2007 (MST)
Upgrade will take place 08:38, February 7, 2007 (MST)
Seems an upgrade to Wikimedia 1.9 may be nesesary, thus I propose a vote for when this should happen.

Well considering the advantages outweigh the negatives regarding an update, I don't see why not asap. :) Juvinious 19:12, January 30, 2007 (MST)
I don't see any negative side effect of the upgrade. Victorwss 06:56, January 31, 2007 (MST)
Same here. Sticking with 1.6.8 on the other hand has negative effects, I really want parser functions now after playing with that color template :) --Allefant 07:24, January 31, 2007 (MST)
I asked for WHEN not IF. -- Tomasu 07:56, January 31, 2007 (MST)
I would believe they are agreeing with me, which would be asap. ::) Juvinious 22:39, February 1, 2007 (MST)
Well, "I really want parser functions now", I guess I already answered the WHEN there :) --Allefant 06:48, February 3, 2007 (MST)
I couldn't access awiki in last friday. The migration occured? It was successful? Victorwss 08:42, February 6, 2007 (MST)
- Nope, sorry, it was issues with the log splitting script I modified. Caused apache to start forking of more and more sub processes since it made the original ones <defunct>. The problem should be permanently fixed now. -- Tomasu 19:52, February 6, 2007 (MST)
[edit] new layout
I tried to copy over the Wikipedia layout.. it's not done yet apparently, feel free to experiment further. I think it does look better than the simple one from before in any case. --Allefant 16:12, January 26, 2007 (MST)
Much better, indeed Victorwss 16:13, January 26, 2007 (MST)
IMHO the alleg.sf.net colors are a bit ugly, i prefered the previous one. Victorwss 08:48, January 29, 2007 (MST)
- Yeah, I'll put the wikipedia colors back for now I guess. --Allefant 10:23, January 30, 2007 (MST)
I'm feeling whimsical tonight, so I'm changing the "discussion" link up top with "talk". Feel free to argue ;) -- Tomasu 01:15, March 17, 2007 (MST)
[edit] Our first vandalism
Well, see that: http://awiki.tomasu.org/index.php?title=Main_Page&oldid=1547. Looks like our first vandalism after the MediaWiki conversion.
What a stupid. It was up for almost two hours before I reverted.
By the way, can someone ban the guy in such a painfully bleeding way?
Victor Williams Stafusa da Silva 12:28, March 10, 2007 (MST)
- It'll be my pleasure :) -- Tomasu 12:32, March 10, 2007 (MST)
- I also gave you Sysop/Beurocrat ops. Have fun :) -- Tomasu 12:40, March 10, 2007 (MST)
- Oh, thanks ;) Victor Williams Stafusa da Silva 13:23, March 10, 2007 (MST)
- It wasn't the first, I also banned a vandal already :) I wonder if we should give the IPs to Matthew so they can also get banned from creating another a.cc account. --Elias 07:57, March 11, 2007 (MST)
- Except I checked that person's history, there was nothing there. No logs of ever touching any pages. -- Tomasu 12:03, March 11, 2007 (MST)
- Yes, for some reason, it does not show up under "contrib" - but if I go to the logs Special:Log - it shows up here Special:Undelete/Ringtones - not that it matters :) --Elias 08:32, March 12, 2007 (MST)
- Spam, vandalism and creating really useless pages are three different things. However, why care about? Victor Williams Stafusa da Silva 13:39, March 12, 2007 (MST)
- Yeah, they are really all the same, i'd consider them all vandalism, even if for spam the motivation may be profit, and for useless pages, no idea, instead of just normal malice. --Elias 14:44, March 12, 2007 (MST)

Yo Guys, Matthew at allegro.cc has said we just need to message him about any vandals/spammers, and he'll add them to allegro.cc's ban list. So we shouldn't have to even use our banlist. -- Tomasu 01:11, March 17, 2007 (MST)
[edit] batch or local upload?
Can we install something like this? http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/SpecialUploadLocal
Uploading the old pixelate images and zip files will be a major pain with the "Upload file" button, and only other way around it I could find is the mediawiki bot. --Elias 04:44, March 18, 2007 (MST)
